Our journey
A simple question started it all.
Sora didn’t start with a warehouse full of green coffee. It started with curiosity — a question about why a bag of Indian Arabica from one estate cupped so differently from another grown thirty kilometres away, and why so much of that story got lost by the time it reached a roaster overseas.
That question turned into two years of learning the trade from the inside. Not from a desk, but from the grading table. Sample after sample: screening bean sizes by hand, counting defects against Coffee Board of India and ICO standards, reading moisture and cupping reports until they stopped being numbers on a page and started telling us something true about a specific plot of land, a specific harvest, a specific farmer’s season.
Somewhere in that process the work stopped feeling like trading a commodity and started feeling like carrying a story — from a grower in Chikmagalur, Coorg, Araku or Wayanad, through every stage of grading and preparation, to a cup on the other side of the world.
That’s the promise behind Sora Exports, founded in 2026. We built this on the belief that green coffee shouldn’t lose its origin story in transit, whether it’s a specialty Arabica micro lot or a single farmer parcel small enough to fit a specialty roaster’s next release. Every lot we offer carries the grading discipline we learned the hard way, and the respect for origin that made us fall in love with this trade in the first place.
